USU Thermal Energy Storage Tank

USU Thermal Energy Storage Tank

This design-build project was the construction of a new 2.25 million gallon pre-stressed water storage tank. The tank stores water for the USU chilled water system. The purpose of the tank is to allow USU to run chillers for air conditioning during the most efficient times. The TES tank is connected to the central chilled water system which serves most of the buildings on the central campus. The project also included a diffuser system inside tank, and work in the adjacent utility tunnel node where the tank connects to the chilled water system through a series of piping, pumps and meters. The project was completed on time and within budget without claims or disputes.
